Ambivalent Poet
I am an ambivalent poet
desiring notoriety yet
also wanting to be left alone
I wouldn't mind blazing accolades
from a distance
I wouldn't mind being sent a
monthly check
but what I would mind is for anyone
to recognize me at the grocery store
I want no autograph sessions
or public appearance opportunities
It's not that I don't want to work hard
I don't mind that
I just don't want notoriety
and I never want to be left alone
