Misery
It's an agent of change, he says
nothing personal.
It doesn't show up
it's always there
a part of the psychic anatomy.
Without it, you might never marry
have children
move out of the slum, quit McDonald's,
search for a cure for cancer.
It's nothing personal.
It was in the midst of peace
where misery dared to appear
leaving me confused and stuck
but he pointed out
it doesn't mean I need to change a thing
or wallow in the stories
my mind drums up.
It's simply a tool
with an evolutionary advantage
a catalyst providing energy
to create something new.
